It all started at sunrise on November 11, 2017. I woke up quite early on the east coast to a newsfeed already populated by cherry blossoms. Kim Kardashian West had a baby shower and the theme was "a tea for three"

"A baby shower," I whispered.

It was a naturally classy affair for the mother of two, who's expecting her third child via surrogate this winter. Think: neighborly opulence. But something was slightly off. Kim Kardashian West took her hundreds of millions of followers on a tour through her home, which was decorated like a banquet hall filled with flowers that surely overwhelmed the nose, and all of your favorite celebrities were in attendance. There was an onslaught of photos posted by guests during the shower, and more photos posted afterwards reflecting on the fun; in general, everyone overshared. This is not ordinary behavior for major Kardashian events. Typically, the family quietly enjoys a celebration, then posts a select amount of curated photos the day after.

But in this case, what followed were aerial paparazzi photos of Kylie's own reported baby shower, which took place just one day after Kim's. According to The Daily Mail, the party had a floral theme and, similar to Kim's 2015 shower, guests wore pajamas. At first, it seemed like it might have been an upstage. But since when do the Kardashian-Jenners need the paps to upstage anyone? That's what their social media feeds are for. If Kylie really wanted to outshine Kim, she could have posted cryptic Snapchat stories, as she's been doing for months now, from the party. Instead, there were no social posts from Kylie's tight-knit group of friends. There were no entryway snaps, no close-ups on the floral arrangements, no selfies that showed her pink pajamas sneaking into the cropped shot.

This party was not meant to go public. What if, then, Kim's shower was intended to distract from Kylie's own intentionally private shower?

Furthering this theory is the fact that, at Kim's shower, Khloé posted a straight-on, full-body picture of herself surrounded by cherry blossoms — a move she knew would set the blogs on fire,

Khloé reached all the way back to 2007 for a loose fitting, baby blue eyelet number, feeding into the speculation that she is having a boy herself, while neither accentuating or exactly hiding her "alleged" bump. (Like Kylie, she has yet to confirm her reported pregnancy.)

Then there's Kylie. She, on the day of Kim's shower, posted a photo of her hand on a steering while, en route to the event. Only it was no ordinary hand; it was a hand that hosted a fresh new diamond on her ring finger. With that, a new rumor was born: "Are Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott ENGAGED!?" That was supposed to feed the rumor mill for the day — the stories weren't supposed to be about her alleged pregnancy.

What I'm telling you is that I think Kim Kardashian West, the Queen Sister she is, had a decoy shower to protect Kylie's privacy. Sadly, it didn't totally work. The news of Kylie's shower broke. But it kind of worked? I mean, I'm still wondering how Kim got so many cherry blossoms in her home. Teach me your ways, Sister West. I'm begging you.
