Black Mirror has given us our first substantial glimpse at season four, and going by this new trailer, Charlie Brooker's imagination remains as twisted as ever.

The Netflix anthology show has been teasing us in the past day or so on Twitter, releasing a mysterious poster for upcoming episode 'Arkangel'.

We now have our first footage from the episode, and it seems that parenting's in the technological hotseat for the show's latest horror-filled narrative.

In the clip, a mother (played by Mad Men's Rosemarie DeWitt) plays around with her young daughter as an elderly figure tells her: "I am 2,000 years old and I remember when we used to open up the door and just let the kids be."

However, a moment of panic follows as the mother appears to lose her daughter, before finding her again shortly after.

DeWitt's character then takes the child to a medical centre, where something is injected into her temple – and we are assured it is "completely safe". Hmm, we beg to differ.

After all, the episode's tagline is "the key to good parenting… is control". We have a hunch that things will probably be taking a turn for the worse.

'Arkangel' is directed by Jodie Foster, who has promised that we are in for an "emotional rollercoaster".

However, the Oscar-winning star isn't the only big name this season, with the likes of Jesse Plemons and Maxine Peake appearing across the episodes.

Unfortunately, we still don't know when the fourth season of Black Mirror will drop, so we'll just have to make do with a general teaser in the meantime, which you can watch below:
