It's only just been confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are engaged, but it's already been announced the actress will be joining the Queen for Christmas at Sandringham this year.

Buckingham Palace has just revealed Her Majesty and other members of the royal family - including the Suits star - will join the congregation for the morning service at St Mary Magdalene Church on 25 December.

A Kensington Palace spokesman said: 'You can expect to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry and Ms Markle at Sandringham on Christmas Day.'

Markle's attendance at the traditional royal affair goes against usual royal protocol however, as the Duchess of Cambridge was not invited to join Prince William for Christmas in 2010, despite announcing their engagement a month before.

Markle was recently omitted from the Queen and Prince Philip's 70th wedding anniversary celebrations at Windsor Castle, as was Princess Eugenie's boyfriend, Jack Brooksbank.

But it is being rumoured that the royals will also be toasting Markle and Harry's exciting news during their Christmas festivities.

The Queen released a statement to declare that she and her husband, Prince Philip, 'are delighted for the couple and wish them every happiness', a Buckingham Palace spokesman said.

Harry and Markle, who have been dating since last summer, secretly got engaged earlier this month.

The happy news was announced by Clarence House in the following statement: 'His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle.

'The wedding will take place in spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.

'His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month.Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of hisfamily. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle's parents.

'The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.'

William and Kate added that they were 'very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together.'
