"Fenty beauty campaign is awesome, next time you record something should invite a trans girl to the group," the fan wrote.

The 29-year-old businesswoman and entertainer explained in a direct message that she doesn't ask models at her castings whether or not they are transgender, and doesn't believe companies should use these men and women as "marketing tools."

"I've had the pleasure of working with many gifted trans women over the years, but I don't go around doing trans castings!" Rihanna said. "Just like I don't do straight non trans women castings. I respect all women. Whether they're trans or not is none of my business! I don't think it's fair that a trans woman, or man, be used as a convenient marketing tool. Too often I see companies doing this to trans and black women alike. There's always just that one spot in the campaign for the token 'we look mad diverse' girl/guy! It's sad!"

The fan quickly backtracked on his initial comments, writing in a pinned tweet, "When I thought she couldn't teach me more... ," and shared a screen grab of the singer's response.

Fenty Beauty officially launched in September. The company's website states that Rihanna created the makeup line "so that women everywhere would be included."
