Prince Harry has reportedly asked Prince William to be the best man for his royal wedding to Meghan Markle in May 2018, a source told Us Weekly.

However, according to earlier speculation, it was said that Prince William would not be the best man at the wedding, because there is technically no position called the "best man" at British weddings, instead, the groom has "supporters." Prince William, however, broke protocol during his royal wedding in 2011 to Kate Middleton, where he chose Harry as his best man.

"Harry has several close guy friends, but there's no way he would ask anyone but William to take on the top job," the source told Us. As of right now, there is no confirmation on whether the Duke of Cambridge has said yes to his brother's kind offer.

Choosing his older brother as a best man would also be a smart move for Harry; William had a royal wedding of his own in 2011, when he married Kate Middleton, and he likely has plenty of advice for his sibling for how to undergo (and survive) the process.

"We're very excited and delighted for them both, and wish them all the happiness in this very exciting time," William said of Harry's engagement news, before cracking a joke. "For me, personally, I hope it means he stays out of my fridge and will stop him scrounging my food, which he's done for the last few years."

Touché.

The Duke of Cambridge might not be the only one in the family involved in the upcoming nuptials; his children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, are also reportedly following the bride down the aisle. They're expected to be a page boy and bridesmaid, respectively, just as they were for their aunt Pippa Middleton's wedding.

"George and Charlotte are Harry's only niece and nephew, so it would be a real shocker if they were not included," British royal expert, Marlene Koenig, told BAZAAR.com.

"The wedding will be a family event," a spokesperson told The Sunday Times of Harry and Meghan's nuptials. "You can expect the family to be involved."

However, one family member that might not be involved is Kate Middleton. The Duchess of Cambridge likely won't be in Markle's bridal party because she "barely knows Meghan," Koenig told BAZAAR.com.

Bridesmaid or not, Middleton is likely going to learn a lot more about the duchess-to-be now that she's living on Kensington Palace grounds, at Nottingham Cottage with Prince Harry.
