Finally. After months of anticipation, the first footage from the female-led Ocean's 8 is here, and though the montage is only 15 seconds long, it does not disappoint.
The teaser opens with Sandra Bullock's Debbie Ocean and Cate Blanchett's Lou eating breakfast. Lou asks Debbie, "Why do you need to do this?"
The trailer quickly flips through a montage of the rest of the film's leading ladies. Rihanna appears as Nine Ball, wielding kitchen tongs with deadly precision:
Helena Bonham-Carter's Rose eyes up a glittering diamond necklace:
Sarah Paulson's Tammy does some sleuthing:
Mindy Kaling's Amita goes to work on another diamond necklace:
Awkwafina's Constance makes a signal:
And finally, Anne Hathaway's Daphne Kluger arrives with a sexy hair flip:
Before slapping an unidentified man:
A final shot shows Debbie sipping a martini and smiling at her brother Danny's grave:
The teaser closes with Debbie answering Lou's initial question: "'Cause it's what I'm good at."
As for the plot? Debbie is the estranged sister of Danny Ocean (played by George Clooney in the original Ocean's trilogy). She pulls together a team of ex-cons to help her rob the Met Gala and, more specifically, her ex-lover, played by Damian Lewis. The film's production recreated the annual extravaganza in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Temple of Dendur after donating $1 million to the institution, and Kim Kardashian and Kendall Jenner were spotted filming cameos in January of this year. Katie Holmes, Zayn Malik, Hailey Baldwin and fashion designers like Alexander Wang and Zac Posen are also set to appear. James Corden will play an insurance agent in the film, while Matt Damon will reprise his role from the original Ocean's trilogy.
Ocean's 8 hits cinemas on 8 June, 2018.
