In April 2016, Prince William and Prince Harry made headlines when they visited the set of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The royals were photographed hanging out with the cast:

The princes even attended the film's premiere in December 2017, posing for adorable pictures with BB8 because they're clearly true fans.

In November, Star Wars star John Boyega (who plays Finn in the films), told The Hollywood Reporter that William and Harry would have a cameo in The Last Jedi as Stormtroopers.

Tragically, however, the royals' cameo appears to have been cut. According to the Daily Mail, William and Harry's footage didn't make it into the final film.

"Stormtroopers have to be exactly 5ft 11in. At the time we shot it I think the feeling was that the scene would make the final movie," the Mail's source explained. "Everyone feels bad that William and Harry lost out on their big moment. However, the scene just didn't work for the final cut so it was left out."

This news is disappointing for fans who thought the brothers had actually made it into the movie. Fans believed that William and Harry appeared in a scene with Gwendoline Christie's Captain Phasma.

Boyega seemed to confirm that William and Harry's cameo was cut during an appearance on ITV's This Morning.

"Yeah they were man, I'm sick of this. They were but they were cut out of the film," he said.

Alas, it seems as though the princes' journey to a galaxy far, far away just wasn't meant to be. Somehow, we think they'll be okay with it.
