Jessica Chastain continues to support, embolden and empower women in all walks of life as she champions gender equality in Hollywood and beyond.

The actress has just donated £1446 ($2,000) to help a woman named Karin Schulz to receive fertility treatment after she responded to Chastain's International Women's Day Instagram post by criticising her for being pro-choice and calling herself a feminist.

Chastain had posted the definition of feminism on her page and shared a photo of herself wearing a Dior 'We Should All Be Feminists' T-shirt.

'FEMINISM: the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes,' the Molly's Game star wrote.

Schulz commented: 'Yes feminist that believe in God and stand up for The Unborn. I would be for that kind of feminist.'

Chastain responded by confirming that she was pro-choice, but offered that 'everyone has the right to make their own decision'.

'Yes you can decide what is right for you,' she replied to her follower. 'I am pro-choice and I believe that everyone has the right to make their own decision.

'I read about your journey to become a mother and it broke my heart. I hope that your dream will come true in 2018! Much love to you.'

Chastain then went on Schulz's GoFundMe page and donated the money to help the woman pay for infertility treatments which are not covered by her insurance company.

The actress has previously spoken out about the lack of parity in Hollywood, and taken action to close the gender pay gap by refusing to sign on to a film unless she knows how much her male counterpart is being paid.

She's also behind the group of prominent women in Hollywood who created the Time's Up movement which aims to combat sexual harassment in all industries.
