One of the nuns involved in a years-long legal battle with Katy Perry and the Los Angeles Archdiocese over the sale of a property in Los Angeles collapsed and died during a court proceeding related to the case, according to the Associated Press and a statement released by the archdiocese.

Sister Catherine Rose Holzman, 89, was part of an order of nuns called The Sisters of the Most Holy and Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary who lived in a hilltop convent in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. Perry offered to buy the convent in 2015 and the archdiocese quickly sued to block the sale to Perry, because the sisters wanted the property to go to Los Angeles restaurateur Dana Hollister. Perry disputed the decision to accept Hollister's counteroffer on the convent, and a judge invalidated the sale to Hollister in 2016, paving the way for Perry to move in.

The legal battle involving Perry, Hollister, and the archdiocese continued. As Holzman entered the courthouse on Friday, just before she collapsed, she told KTTV: "To Katy Perry, please stop. It's not doing anyone any good except hurting a lot of people."

Katy Perry has yet to comment on the tragic turn of events at Friday's court proceeding. A website set up to help the sisters with legal fees posted a photo of Holzman on Saturday underneath the caption, "Rest with the angels our most precious treasure."
