Chances are, you're probably tracking some part of your health online, whether it's calories you eat, steps you take, or even your periods. But usually, you have to do all that in a bunch of different apps, right?
Well, now the clever people at Fitbit have finally designed a feature that lets women track both their fitness and their fertility at once. Nifty or what?
Starting this spring, you can use your Fitbit to log your menstrual cycle, record the symptoms you're having, and see it all alongside your health and fitness statistics. It can also give you little reminders about your fertility and reproductive health, and let you know about overall trends (like how long your cycle usually is and when you usually ovulate).
You can track all this data using the Fitbit app, or on one of the newer Fitbit smartwatches like the Ionic. Mind blown.
The reason behind this new feature is simple; it turns out menstrual cycle tracking was one of the most consistently requested features from Fitbit users. The company says many users already used separate apps to track their periods, but wanted to put all their information in one convenient place.
"Most technology products aren't designed with women in mind first," Melanie Chase, VP of product marketing for Fitbit, said during a presentation on Monday. "So we really wanted to be the first to give women a complete picture of their health."
Fitbit also announced another new product. The Versa, which goes on presale today for £199.99, and heads into stores this April, is more like a smartwatch than your typical Fitbit, but has four days of battery life. The company also announced an Adidas-branded Ionic smartwatch.
