It's still cold and snowy, but the first signs of spring are finally starting to appear. No, I'm not talking about daffodils — I'm talking about trailers for ocean disaster movies! Premiering later this year, Adrift tells the true story of Tami Oldham (Shailene Woodley) and Richard Sharp (Sam Claflin), a couple who decide to sail from Tahiti to San Diego but get stopped on the way by Hurricane Raymond. Fair warning: If you Google them, you will find out what happens in the end.
Anyway, the trailer has everything — romance, action, tragedy, big CGI waves, Shailene Woodley using a sextant, etc. It looks like the sort of movie that will make you experience the full range of human emotion in two hours, so plan accordingly, by which I mean bring tissues and don't schedule anything too strenuous afterward.
Adrift hits theaters on June 1.
I’m the senior entertainment editor at Cosmopolitan.com, which means my DVR is always 98 percent full. I love romance novels, bourbon, and canceling plans so I can watch Lost for the 50th time.
