Merry Christmas. Mariah Carey. Surely it's more than coincidence that to fill your heart with festive cheer, all you need to do is think about these two alliterative couplets. The world's favourite pop star diva became synonymous with Christmas with her five time platinum selling album, Merry Christmas. But it's not just her songs, Mariah lives and breathes this holiday, celebrating it months early and with ridiculous gusto all over her social media. To celebrate the Queen of Christmas, we've dug out our favourite festive Mariah moments to get you in the spirit.

We have to start with the incomparable All I Want For Christmas Is You. It's the 11th best-selling single of all time and is ubiquitous across department stores, karaoke booths and terrible office parties. It was covered to great success in Love Actually and has been parodied by many, but the original reigns supreme as the ultimate Christmas ballad. Hairbrush mics at the ready...

Mariah has flogged various Christmas items off the back of her success, including a children's book, baubles and slippers. But our favourite moment of merch promotion was when she took to Instagram wearing a set of Christmas pyjamas featuring a cartoon of herself. Inception levels of Christmas Carey.

None of her other Christmas singles really touches All I Want For Christmas Is You, but 2010's Oh Santa! comes close. It was the lead single from her ingeniously titled second festive album, Merry Christmas II You, and reached number one in the charts. The lyrics are completely psychotic as Mariah begs Santa to bring her ex-boyfriend back to her from the arms of his new lady, but my word it's catchy.

There are always stories about Mariah Carey being paid big bucks simply for showing up to Christmas events and for outrageous riders. One of our favourite bits of gossip was when she demanded a store opening describe her as 'The Queen of Christmas' across all promo. I mean, obvs.

Mariah tweeted a glorious Christmas/Halloween mashup photo in October 2015 of her with both pumpkin and tree. She followed it with this adorable photo in January, captioned 'Christmas revisited.... #couldntresistmakinganotherchristmastree #thoughitsjanuary'. She sure is taking her royal duties as Queen of Christmas seriously.

Mariah's Holiday Sketchtacular series with Funny or Die is unfortunately hard to seek out, but you can get a little taster of the self-mocking diva in the above clip. We can also look forward to more Christmas Carey cheer with her upcoming holiday special starring DJ Khaled. We have a feeling it will be meme-ing the world over before you can say 'ho ho ho'. Mariah is teaming up with James Corden again this winter for a festive edition of Carpool Karaoke. Surely the ultimate winner of best way to drive home for Christmas.

MC often posts fun Christmas snaps, but our highlight is this adorable photo of her on Father Christmas' knee. We wonder what Mrs Claus thought…

Let's end as we began, with another version of All I Want For Christmas Is You. Mariah reworked the classic on Jimmy Fallon with The Roots playing children's instruments. If you're feeling particularly creative at your desk, try and rope in your neighbor for a sing-a-long using a stapler and a paperweight. Anyone that complains is obviously a Grinch.
