After the shooting at Orlando's Pulse nightclub, many musicians, including Beyoncé and Adele, paid tribute to the victims and the LGBTQ community.

Frank Ocean, whose follow-up to critically acclaimed debut album channel ORANGE is eagerly awaited, made a rare public statement on his Tumblr about the tragedy.

In the poetic, fierce post, Ocean places the shooting in the context of wider hatred and lack of acceptance in the world, from his memory of a transphobic comment made by his own father to how young people are tragically affected by homophobia. Wishing for hope, Ocean nevertheless notices it's balanced out by the constant trauma against LGBTQ people: "I daydream on the idea that maybe all this barbarism and all these transgressions against ourselves is an equal and opposite reaction to something better happening in this world."
