You know when you're changing the bed sheets and you get mixed up with the corners of the duvet cover and somehow find yourself entangled inside the sheet?

Well, that unfortunate household ritual seems to be the inspiration behind Katy Perry's new music video for her Olympics anthem, Rise

Having premiered yesterday – the day before tonight's Olympic opening ceremony in Rio de Janeiro – the video sees a bruised Katy Perry struggling against a fuschia-coloured parachute.

Throughout the clip, Perry valiantly battles against the precarious parachute repeatedly saying 'I will fight' and 'I will still rise'.

But then the video takes a turn for the worse as Perry seems to have typed in the wrong postcode on CityMapper because she is forced to trudge across a mountainous landscape in the scorching heat before falling into a lake – still attached to her parachute/cape thing.

If there was ever an inspirational video needed for the Olympic athletes this summer it's this.

If Katy Perry can make it across the dessert attached to a pink parachute – you can win Gold.

New life motto?
