So, 2016 is officially the year for gender-swap remakes.

First there was Ghostbusters, starring an all-female cast.

Fast forward to this week and we reported that Channing Tatum would be playing a mermaid in the new version of Splash.

And now Rebel Wilson is jumping on the band wagon to star in a gender-swapped remake of the 1988 comedy Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Hooray for gender fluid roles!

According to Variety, the Grimsby actress will take on one of two female roles to play a con artist who tries to scam a tech prodigy out of his riches, contrary to former interpretations of the plot which saw two male protagonists (Michael Caine and Steve Martinin 1989 and Marlon Brando and David Niven in 1964) scam an heiress.

How 21st Century!

The Australian star has also been taken on as a co-producer of the remake alongside Roger Birnbaum – famous for remakes of RoboCop and The Magnificent Seven – which is due for release in September.

We're loving these gender-flipped remakes.

Keep 'em coming, Hollywood.
