It's happened.

Our prayers have been answered.

The waffle-eating, upside-down flipping, christmas-lights obsessing, bike-riding group of Stranger Things cast members are returning to Netflix for Stranger Things Season 2  in 2017 and we, for one, couldn't be more thrilled.

Yesterday, the streaming service released a short teaser that revealed the second series will pick up exactly one year after Will Byers first disappeared and will consist of nine episodes – one more than the first one.

Is Will is still coughing up slugs? Did Nancy stay with Steve Harrington? Will Barbara make a comeback?

We've never wanted to see the back of 2016 more.

And it looks like we're not the only ones giddy at the thought of a second series as the series' cast have flocked to social media to tell fans the news.

According to the Duffer Brothers (the director twins behind the series), our favorite foursome of teens will return to Hawkins, Indiana but will be joined by four new characters.

We have to admit, we don't like change, but more characters equals more drama so we'll let it go this time.

However, the directing duo aren't sure whether we'll see the return of Eleven yet as it's currently 'up in the air'.

The announcement of a second series has also resulted in fans taking to Twitter by storm, expressing their excitement at seeing the Stranger Things gang back together and to have another excuse to mimic the 'doo-doo-doo-doo-doo' soundtrack at the beginning of an episode.

While the cast is gearing up for a second series, they might want to read up on their 80s knowledge before filming given their shocking familiarity with the decade:

Is it too early to start a countdown to series 2? Nah.
