J.K. Rowling has established herself as a Twitter superstar throughout the presidential debates, so another intelligent critique of the third clash between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton was inevitable.

The Harry Potter author, who has made no secret of her dislike for the Republican nominee, took to Twitter again on Wednesday night to share her commentary of the latest face-off between the presidential candidates.

Trump continued to make extraordinary statements and said he may refuse to accept the election result if he loses on 8 November. As you might expect from one of the world's most famous writers, Rowling summed up this craziness brilliantly, in one succinct tweet.

'Well, there you have it,' she wrote. 'A highly intelligent, experienced woman just debated a giant orange Twitter egg. Your move, America.'

At the time of writing, Rowling's tweet had been liked over 70,000 times with over 34,000 retweets. Of course, her egg comparison went down particularly well and it sparked plenty more amusing puns from comedian Sanjeev Bhaskar.

Rowling also supported her views by making great use of re-tweets. This one, originally posted by television producer Shonda Rhimes, was a particular highlight.

The debates might be over, but as the countdown to the election enters its final weeks, fingers crossed this isn't the last time we see Rowling take down Trump on Twitter.
