Group Date.

First Impression Rose.

Fantasy Suite.

Two-on-One Date.

Cocktail Party.

If these words mean nothing to you, you clearly need to go home tonight, put on an episode of The Bachelor and prepare to have your mind blown.

If you don't know, this is a show which resolves around a single bachelor (or bachelorette, depending on the season) who whittles down a group of 25 guests from the opposite sex to one they want to propose to.

There are tears, holidays to exotic locations around the world, the token weirdo, more tears, themed dates, dramatic finales, engagement rings worth more than your house – it's one of the best love-to-hate shows on television, I kid you not.

And while most of the contestants who are booted out of the show usually form life-long friendships with their fellow competitors, enjoy post-bachelor television appearances and reap the financial benefits from tabloid tell-alls, one pair of former contestants found something neither had expected – a relationship, with each other.

Following appearances on The Bachelor Australia to compete for the attention of Richie Strahan in season four of the show, contestants Megan Marx and Tiffany Scanlon struck up an off-screen friendship that soon blossomed into stronger feelings, according to Instagram posts from the pair.

To celebrate Scanlon's 30th birthday on Monday, Marx posted an image to Instagram of her with the birthday girl on the beach, with the caption: 'I met Tiffany in a very strange situation. Well... we were kind of dating the same guy. And it was filmed and put on TV.'

From that first cocktail party, it was like this instant calibration between souls, as if we had known each other once before.

'Friendship ripened into something bolder, trust in a very strange situation was formed, and now every adventure we have rivals the other- and continues to make plans for itself,' she added before sending her birthday wishes to her love.

'Thank you for always asking questions (detective Tiff), for being curious about people, ideologies and the universe; for loving people with such a wholesome love that I don't know if I would ever be able to emulate. It inspires me. Happy Birthday Tiffany. I love you,' she concluded.

While neither woman has openly come out as lesbian or bisexual, it's clear the pair clearly have a loving connection for one another, calling each other 'baby' and 'love' on Instagram amid uploads of their insanely covetable holidays and evenings relaxing on the beach.

We wish the pair every happiness for the future.
