Cast your minds back to the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 when British boyband Blue decided it would be a great idea to represent the country in Germany with their single, 'I Can'.

Surprisingly, the foursome finished in 11th place that year.

I say surprisingly not because they should have done better – they shouldn't have. Their performance was shockingly bad and ruined all my childhood dreams of a Blue reunion.

Anyway, this is the flashback I've just experienced yet again after just one listen of what is rumoured to be GEM's (Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Melanie Brown) first single.

Why? Because it sounds like it's a new entry for Eurovision. A really bad one.

Earlier today, a leaked version of a track titled 'Song for Her' hit the Internet, making the rumour go into overdrive as to whether this could actually be the debut single from the new group, originals of that relatively unknown 90s band called the Spice Girls.

We know 2016 has been a year of 'throwbacks' in fashion, what with welcoming back athleisure tracksuits, choker necklaces and platform rave shoes à la Marc Jacobs SS17 but we hate to say the nostalgia train should have stopped way before picking up this track.

With lyrics like 'Ladder in my tights, got to think I'll be climbing forever' and 'Where is that girl, is she long gone missing? Can't bring her back, but it's just reminiscing', we have a feeling this song won't be winning an Ivor Novello Award anytime soon.

All it needs is a hook from Pitbull in the second verse to have us throwing our laptops out of the window.

That said, it is from three fifths of the Spice Girls – the Queens of our generation. You can't help but love them, right?

And the song is seriously catchy (but we're not too sure if that's a good thing, yet).
