With the countdown to Christmas well-and-truly underway, we now have to make the tough decision as to which Christmas film to watch in the run-up to the festive day and when.

For example, it's okay to have watched Miracle of 34th Street already but way too early for Love Actually.

And, an evening viewing of The Holiday is totally fine right about now, but don't even think of watching Elf until at least Christmas Eve.

But, if there's one film we can all agree you can watch days before Christmas in order to get you feeling really festive, it's Home Alone.

Nothing says Christmas like a psychopathic blond-haired child who is, let's face it, on some sick mission to torture (almost murder) the 'Wet Bandits' using any means necessary, am I right?

However, in a year that's seen Donald Trump elected President (the same man who actually appeared in the sequel to this film) and an Olympic swimming pool that turned the colour of toxic-green, people seem to be super hypersensitive to inconsistencies and the inexplainable at the moment.

And it looks like Home Alone has become the latest to fall victim to questioning minds.

From wondering how Kevin's parents could afford that mansion of a house and a family holiday to Paris with their insanely large brood to Kevin's lack of thinking to call the police, Twitter is seriously doubting the reliability of Home Alone.

To be fair, I've always had a theory Kevin McCallister is actually called Damien and has '666' tattooed to his skull but I guess that doesn't really have the same Christmas ring to it.
