Beyoncé might want to start canceling the caterers for her gender reveal baby shower, as her father could have just spilt the beans on the gender of her unborn twins.

After announcing her pregnancy last week with the most insanely Beyoncé-cified photo shoot yet, the singer's estranged father, Mathew Knowles, has opened up about the moment he found out he will be a grandfather again.

In an interview with CBS's The Insider, Knowles admitted that, unlike Tina Lawson (his ex-wife) and daughter Solange who knew of Queen Bee's pregnancy long before the public announcement, Mathew revealed he knew nothing of the pregnancy until he started to receive congratulatory text messages.

'I was shocked,' he said.

'I got a text and I'm like, why is this person saying, 'Congratulations'. I didn't know myself', he added.

Beyoncé's former manager also revealed he spoke on the phone with his daughter the day after she announced her pregnancy but noted she 'sounded a little tired because she's been working on the Grammy performance', scheduled this weekend.

However, despite being just as shocked as we were to find out Beyoncé was expanding her brood with husband Jay Z, her father admitted he thought Bee's 'strategy' to reveal her pregnancy news was 'smart'.

'That was very smart that she did it rather than someone else, the media, doing it. I think there's strategy. I think there's more to come… I'm extremely proud, extremely happy both for Jay and for her,' he continued.

While the relationship between Beyonce and her father has been somewhat fraught over the years, following his affair and child with Alexsandra Wright, a divorce from her mother Tina and a severing of professional ties in 2011, it sounds like the pair have finally made amends.

However, the pair's relationship might experience a turn for the worse as Mathew might just have accidentally shared the gender of Beyonce and Jay Z's twins with the world.

At the end of the interview, he gushed about his granddaughter Blue Ivy Carter – who is reportedly launching her own beauty line – and said: 'Blue is gonna have brothers and sisters. She is already excited.'

That was very smart that she did it rather than someone else, the media, doing it.

When asked to confirm whether he meant Beyonce is having a boy and a girl, Mathew replied: 'Oh, I don't know. You have to say both because I don't know if it's either.'

While the gender of Beyonce's twins is still unknown, we have a feeling we know why she decided to keep her Dad in the dark with the news until now – he can't keep a secret.
