In the midst of a messy break-up or divorce, it's often easy to lose sight of what really matters in life when finances, heartbreak and child custody come into play.
However, one guy who is showing us exactly how to handle a break-up with someone who you share children with is father-of-two, Billy Flynn Gadbois.
In a post to Facebook, the Boston-based father took the opportunity to explain to friends and family why he recently surprised his ex-wife on her birthday by bringing her flowers and cards with his children.
'Per usual someone asked me why the hell I still do things for her all the time. This annoys me. So ima break it down for you all,' he said in the post.
Billy went onto explain the importance of showing his sons the value of treating women with love and respect.
'I'm raising two little men. The example I set for how I treat their Mum is going to significantly shape how they see and treat women and affect their perception of relationships. I think even more so in my case because we are divorced,' he revealed.
For anyone who criticised his actions – which, admittedly are rare and admirable after a divorce – he had one thing to say to them.
'If you aren't modeling good relationship behavior for your kids, get your sh*t together. Rise above it and be an example. This is bigger than you,' he added.
'Raise good men. Raise strong women. Please. The world needs them, now more than ever,' he concluded.
