Does anyone else have a feeling Ryan Gosling wants to ditch Hollywood for a life as a musician?

After all, it was only weeks ago that the 36-year-old stole our hearts with his syrupy deep voice and skillful tickling of the ivories for his role as die-hard jazz musician, Sebastian, for the soundtrack of La La Land.

Well, now the Canadian-born star is back showing off his musical side again with his latest role in the film, Song to Song.

Starring opposite Rooney Mara, Natalie Portman and Michael Fassbender, Gosling stars as a rock star in the Austin music scene.

In the trailer, the Notebook star can be heard singing to the 1961 Del Shannon track 'Runaway' as footage of him and Mara – described as a couple of 'struggling songwriters' by the Los Angeles Times, appear to battle love, jealousy and their careers on the road.

According to Refinery 29, the film was shot way back in 2012 during Austin's South by Southwest (SXSQ) festival, long before Gosling won his Golden Globe award for 'Best Actor' and welcomed the birth of his two daughters, Esmeralda Amada and Amada Lee with partner, Eva Mendes.

However, the long wait for the film isn't entirely surprising seeing as the project's award-winning director Terrence Malick (of the Thin Red Line and Knight of Cups) once reportedly took off 20 years between films, according to W magazine.

Rolling Stone magazine reports the film will see cameos by Red Hot Chili Peppers, Iggy Pop, Arcade Fire, Patti Smith and Florence & the Machine and, will debut at the South by Southwest Film Festival on 10 March before general release.

More of Ryan Gosling singing? Don't mind if we do.
