Ever since I watched La La Land, I can't help but think that Drake and Rihanna are the real-life versions of Seb and Mia.

After all, here are two incredibly talented artists with a love of music and film who have momentarily hit 'pause' on their romance to concentrate on their careers, but will hopefully, one day, rekindle their romance.

And, despite rumours of a romance with Jennifer Lopez in recent weeks– which we called out as being a hoax for publicity ahead of the pair's up-coming single, from the outset – it seems the 'One Dance' singer just can't get his former girlfriend, Rihanna, out of his mind.

I mean, who can blame him. It's friggin' Rihanna.

During his concert in Dublin last night, the 30-year-old – who days earlier called out Kanye West for 'publicly sh*tting' on him and his music – took to the stage to wish a 'happy birthday' to his ex, and admitted he still has a lot of 'love' and 'respect' for her.

He told the screaming crowd, who burst into applause at his announcement: 'It's somebody's birthday today—somebody I have a lot of love for and a lot of respect for.

'So, instead of singing 'Happy birthday,' though, we just going to do this in Dublin. Instead of singing 'Happy Birthday,' we're going to set it off just like this,' he added before his 2016 collaboration with Rihanna, 'Work', began to play in the background.

Of course, this isn't the first time Drake has declared his undying love for the Barbados-born singer.

At the VMAs last year, the 'Hotline Bling' singer presented Rihanna – who stars in the upcoming action film, Ocean's Eight – with her MTV's Video Vanguard Award and revealed his longtime love for the 29-year-old.

'She's someone I've been in love with since I was 22-years-old,' he gushed at the award show.

'She's one of my best friends in the world. All my adult life, I've looked up to her, even though she's younger than me. She's a living, breathing legend in our industry,' he added.

Weeks after Drake's declaration of love at the awards ceremony, Rihanna showed off her new tattoo of a shark on her ankle as an ode to Drake, which is reportedly a reference to one of RiRi and Drake's first dates to a Toronto aquarium, where he bought her a stuffed animal shark.

I mean, if these two don't get back together, what hope is there for the rest of us?
