Mahershala Ali just won the Oscar for 'Best Supporting Actor' at tonight's 89th Academy Awards.
In his acceptance speech, the star – who is the first Muslim actor to win an Oscar – said: 'I want to thank my teachers, my professors. I had so many wonderful teachers.
'They taught me it wasn't about you, its not about you its about these characters. You are in service to these stories and these characters.'
He also thanked his wife, Amatus Sami-Karim, who was in her third trimester during the awards season and has just welcomed the pair's first child on Wednesday.
Posting a photo of his baby daughter with his wife, Ali captioned the image: 'Bari (Bar-ee) Najma Ali'.
