Emma Stone just won the award for 'Best Actress' at tonight's 89th Academy Awards.

On accepting her award for her role as Mia in La La Land, the 28-year-old praised her fellow nominees.

She said: 'To the women in this category, you were all so extraordinary. I admire you more than I can put into words.'

She continued her speech, thanking her family, friends and, above all, the musical's director Damien Chazelle.

'I know this a huge confluence of luck and opportunity, but I want to thank Damien Chazelle for the opportunity of a lifetime.

'Thank you for your faith and patience,' she added.

Lastly, the Help actress thanked her co-star Ryan Gosling, who just lost out on the 'Best Actor' award to Casey Affleck, for his continued support on set.

She noted: 'Thank you for making me laugh, always raising the bar and being the best partner on this crazy adventure.'

Congratulations, Emma!
