Now this article is largely gossip (with a side of make-believe), and we don't like to gossip over at ELLE...we LOVE to.

Just kidding.

But this rumour is just too good not to spread...just a little, in the full knowledge that it could very well be total bulls**t.

So that's the disclaimer done.

But, rumour has it that Brad Pitt managed to wrangle Jen's number and texted her on 11th February to wish her a Happy Birthday.

We imagine (we are COMPLETELY making this bit up) it went a little bit like this:

'Hi Jen, sorry to message you like this, Happy Birthday. I was just looking at some really nice curtains the other day, and it made me think of you, and your hair. Luv from, ur bunny Brad x'

Absolutely classic move - can anyone say they have never texted or been texted by an ex on their birthday?!

It is *the* move to use, if you want to re-ignite a conversation with an ex-lover.

So obvious, so basic. Brad, we thought better of you.

Anyway, we hope Jen's reply was like,

'Sorry It's taken me so long to reply, I've been on an Italian cooking course (looking fly as hell) with my soulmate Justin, who dis?'

Turns out, the rumour mill doesn't stop there, and US Weekly reports, 'Brad told her he's having a hard time with his split and they exchanged a few texts reminiscing about the past.'

We imagine the conversation went a little like this,

Brad: 'Remember that time when we were a honey-toned mega-couple?'

Jennifer: 'Remember that time when you cheated on me, America's sweetheart, and then quickly married to someone else, leaving me heartbroken, and then I met someone I love and took my time with them and then your marriage broke down'?

To add insult to injury, there's reports that Brad spent ten days over Awards season, inside, sculpting...

Whatever you've got to do mate.
