It's pretty great when someone thinks they are insulting you and you take it as a massive compliment, right?

Like being called 'bossy', which you take to mean 'boss-like', or when someone labels you as 'high-maintenance', but you know that it's just because they're offended that you're not a push-over or doormat.

So, when this guy tweeted a photo of a someone in a burqa and next to someone in full drag glam and commented, 'This is the future liberals want', everyone was like, yeah, basically.

That's the jist of it.

Some people pointed out that, although it may be the future they want, it's also the present.

And took the mickey out of the alternative.

And it started somewhat of a trend, and everyone pitched in with their ideas about what a liberal future could look like...

Even the girls from the TV show Broad City had some suggestions.

As well as some amazing memes, this ill-advised tweet also ended up spreading a little love.

The Drag Queen in the photo has been identified and is getting a lot of love from the people of the internet.

Gilda Wabbit wants to keep the spirit of this meme alive by starting the hashtag #ResistingByExisting.

And people are already picking up on it.

Because, sometimes, being yourself is the most radical thing you can do.
