Paris is called the 'city of love' for many reasons; the romantic views from Montmartre, the seducing sound of a glottal 'r' from a native speaker, the sight of a boulangerie window stacked high with brioches, croissants and baguettes.

So, it comes as no surprise that model Gigi Hadid felt compelled to shower her boyfriend, singer Zayn Malik, with affection last night in the French capital when he accepted a coveted international music award.

Despite being unable to attend the 2017 iHeartRadio Music Awards in California to accept the gong for 'Best Music Video of the Year' for his hit debut single 'Pillowtalk', the former One Direction star took to Twitter to post a video, thanking his fans who voted for the video.

In the clip, Zayn – who last week was spotted sitting on the front row to support Gigi as she walked in the Balmain fashion show in Paris– said: 'I'm currently in Paris — sorry I can't be there. A little birdie told me that I've actually won an award, so thank you very much.

'I'm very honored. To everyone that voted, it means a lot, and my co-star's actually sitting next to me right here, so she's gonna say hello as well,' he added, referring to his 21-year-old girlfriend who starred with him in the PDA-full music video last year.

'Hello guys. Thanks so much,' Gigi said after caressing her boyfriend's face and then proceeded to blow a kiss to his fans.

The pair's video – which has now been viewed over 690 million times – sees a blonde-haired Zayn getting intimate with his rumored girlfriend at the time.

Hadid recently opened up on the Ellen DeGeneres Show, about how she fell for the British singer, after first meeting him a few years ago at a mutual friend's birthday party.

'We played it cool for like ten minutes and then I was like, 'You're really cute',' she admitted.

'We connected like really quickly. We have kind of the same sense of humor and started sharing videos,' she added.
