Having launched a career in Hollywood at the tender age of nine-months-old and boasting a combined fortune of almost £250 million, it's not exactly a surprise Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen are keen to maintain an element of privacy to their high-profile and A-list lifestyles.

Despite a public battle with anorexia and the death of her friend Heath Ledger in 2008, Mary-Kate has lived out her twenties and launched two outrageously successful fashion brands, The Row and Elizabeth and James, relatively under the radar of the media and public's scrutiny.

However, for the first time ever, Mary-Kate has decided to open up about her life away from the cameras – one she now shares with her 47-year-old husband, Olivier Sarkozy, and her two step-children, Julien, 15, and Margot, 13.

In an interview with Net-A-Porter's The Edit, the 30-year-old candidly revealed how she manages to strike the balance between her private life with Sarkozy and her career as a designer and former child star.

She says: 'I think [me and Ashley are] lucky [working hard] comes quite naturally for us. We don't need so much time to sit and think and ponder.

'But then I have a husband, two step-kids and a life; I have to go home and cook dinner. I run on the weekend. You find the thing that helps you relax and if you don't have it, you have to look for it. Or you get burned out and then you're not productive,' she added.

Mary-Kate tied the knot with French banker – who is also the half-brother of the former President of France, Nicolas Sarkozy – in November 2015, at a nuptial attended by 50 guests in an outdoor garden at a private residence in Manhattan.

It sounds like Mary-Kate is still in the honeymoon phase of married life, and couldn't be happier for her.
