Anja Rubik is a supermodel first and foremost, but she is a Polish activist too.

Anja has been involved with Gals for Gals (Dziewuchy Dziewuchom) since its inception, and she isn't the only one.

Gals for Gals state their mission on their website, saying:

WE DO NOT CONSENT to children giving birth WE DO NOT CONSENT to rape victims having to give birth to their oppressor's children WE DO NOT CONSENT to women having to carry to term a terminally ill child just to watch them die in their arms WE DO NOT CONSENT to banning prenatal care WE DO NOT CONSENT to criminally prosecuting women who suffered a miscarriage WE DO NOT CONSENT to doctors sacrificing our lives because they're scared of prosecutors WE DO NOT CONSENT to anyone choosing for those directly affected by a tragedy WE DO NOT CONSENT to paying up political debts at the expense of Polish women

And they were crucial in the successes of the Black Protest in October.

After there was a proposed ban on all abortions, women took to the streets. Feet on the ground worked, and the justice and human rights committee – which reviews proposed legislation – urged parliament to reject the controversial ban.

Other models and actresses such as Milla Jovovich and Abbey Lee have supported the Polish female right's advocacy group.

Both Rita Ora and Alexa Chung have also shown their support, holding up the sign 'popieram dziewuchy' which roughly translates to 'I support the wenches'.

Anja walked with the women of Gals for Gals for their latest protest on International Women's Day and even spoke at the rally.

Anja spoke to i-D about why she feels moved to be so involved, 'For me being here is very important, because I am Polish and I don't want the women in our country to have lesser rights than many women around the world.'

'I can see how bravely Polish women are protesting, demonstrating and fighting for their rights - I wanted to support them.'

Turns out Anja is the model activist, bringing international recognition to an important and worthy cause.
