What does Friends star Matthew Perry have in common with Canadian PM and international heartthrob Justin Trudeau? Well, a slightly awkward playground moment, it turns out.

Appearing on Late Night With Jimmy Kimmel last night, Perry, who was raised in Ottawa, Canada, confessed to beating up Justin Trudeau during fifth grade at the school they both attended.

"I have a story about him that I'm not proud of", Perry told Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday night. "[My friend Chris Murray and I] actually beat up Justin Trudeau."

"I think he was excelling at a sport that we weren't as [good at], so it was pure jealousy, and, you know, we beat him up," Perry awkwardly admitted.

Perhaps this goes some way to explaining Trudeau's present love for the sport of boxing...?

"I'm not bragging about this," Perry continued. "This is terrible. I was a stupid kid and I didn't want to beat him up. In fact, I think at some point I tried to turn it into love-play."

"But I think I was rather instrumental in him going to such great heights and becoming Prime Minister. I think he said, 'I'm going to rise above this and become Prime Minister.'" Perry joked.
