Three years after launching her lifestyle blog, The Tig, actress Meghan Markle has decided to shut down the 'passion project' as her romance with Prince Harry heats up.

Yesterday, the 35-year-old Californian took to the website's homepage and her Instagram account to inform her readers of the news, explaining why she's made the executive decision to bid 'farewell' to the blog.

She wrote: 'After close to three beautiful years on this adventure with you, it's time to say goodbye to The Tig.

'What began as a passion project (my little engine that could) evolved into an amazing community of inspiration, support, fun and frivolity,' she added.

'Keep finding those Tig moments of discovery, keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being 'the change you wish to see in the world'.

'Above all, don't ever forget your worth - as I've told you time and time again: you, my sweet friend, you are enough. Thank you for everything,' she concluded, signing off the post with 'Xx Meghan Markle'.

Markle previously opened up on her blog about the inspiration behind her blog's title which is named after a wine called Tignanello (nicknamed 'Tig'). She credits the wine for helping her understand what wine experts mean when talking of 'the body, legs, structure of wine',

'It was an ah-ha moment at its finest. For me, it became a 'Tig' moment – a moment of getting it,' she wrote on her blog.

The blog has since become a platform where the philanthropist – who recently posed for pictures alongside Emma Watson and Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau in the name of gender equality – has shared many thoughts on her love of traveling, the need for diversity and, more recently, her top tips to a successful relationship.

With rumours circulating that the actress, who is reportedly leaving her hit television show and moving in with her boyfriend Prince Harry later this summer, many of the star's followers see the closure of the lifestyle blog as a signal of an upcoming proposal from the royal.

On her Instagram post, in which she posted several images of her followers, her fans commented on the image with well wishes for her future with Prince Harry.

Kekka_ward wrote: 'You, will be such an asset to the House of Windsor. Such a well-rounded individual.'

Jennifer Oakes commented: 'I wish you happiness in life & marriage. God bless your growing family.'

It looks like exciting things are on the horizon for Meghan. Watch this space.
