Pamela Anderson, the famous Baywatch actress and animal activist, reportedly sent the First Lady a faux-fur coat as a celebratory gift for Melania's new official role.

Clearly not one to fall down on niceties, Melania wrote a thank you note for the gift, which Pamela took a picture of and Tweeted to her fans, yesterday.

She captioned the photo with another note for the First Lady, saying,

'Dear Melania,

'Thank you for your sweet note.

'It is heartwarming to see you manage your position with such beauty and grace.

'Pamela.'

CNN reports:

Anderson's gift was a faux lamb fur coat — with vegan belt — made by Russian faux fur company, Only Me, and accompanied it with a letter saying in part: 'I am so happy that you chose not to wear fur! As First Lady, you will help set style trends, and by remaining compassionate with your choices, you will warm the hearts of many.

And apparently Melania has made the move permanent.

After years of wearing quite extravagant furs, she has decided to go a little more cruelty-free.

Her communications director, Stephanie Grisham, confirmed to CNN that 'she does not wear fur'.

Well, this should be music to Pamela's ears, since she is a very public advocate for animal welfare.

We see a friendship flourishing between these two women and their love of all things faux and fabulous.
