Having recently revealed she flat out refused director Sofia Coppola's ask for her to lose weight for her upcoming role in the pair's Southern gothic drama, The Beguiled, Kirsten Dunst now has a thing or two to say on the matter of social media and its effect on booking acting jobs in Hollywood.

Despite a career spanning over 20 years with roles in the likes of Oedipus Wrecks, Bring It On, Jumanji, Marie Antoinette and The Virgin Suicides, the 35-year-old actress revealed female actresses can no longer get away with not having social media if they want to bag acting roles.

'You can get jobs based on your Instagram following these days. That's insane. But that's why I have it now,' she recently admitted to Marie Claire.

With just over 900,000 Instagram followers and 63 posts to date – a relatively small number when you think of the millions of followers the likes of her acting counterparts such as Reese Witherspoon and Blake Lively – ranging from shots at Cannes Film Festival, her Dior shoes and candid throwback photos on film sets, it's clear Dunst is somewhat conscious of how important her social media accounts are to her career, especially in comparison to her male contemporaries.

'As a man, you could get away with not having it. As a woman in this industry, I think you gotta do it now,' Dunst argued. 'It's just part of the game.'

However, that's not to say the actress – who is engaged to her Fargo co-star Jesse Plemons – is hell-bent on creating a false image of herself on social media for the purpose of staying relevant.

Discussing her fashion sense, the actress said: 'I definitely have a gross dress with holes in it that I would never wear in L.A., but in Austin, no one cares...If I wasn't an actress I'd dress like garbage every day. All my clothes would be rags.'

The New Jersey-born star – who was recently spotted crying with tears of joy on the Cannes 2017 red carpet for her role in The Beguiled – also admitted she's ready to start a family with her fiancé.

Despite never holding much of a desire to have children, the actress revealed: 'I wasn't one of those 'I need a baby!' people until my goddaughter was born. I love her so much.

'That love is just like...you can't experience that unless you have a kid. I put her to bed last night and she woke up this morning and said to her mom, 'Where's Kiki?' I just love that love. That's what I want.'

'I'm at a stage in my life where I'm like, I've been working since I was three. It's time to have babies and chill,' she said.

With Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst as parents, we're pretty sure their children will be the coolest kids in Hollywood.
