With just two weeks to go until he headlines Glastonbury Festival 2017, it appears Ed Sheeran is pumping himself up for one of the biggest gigs of his life by catching up with fellow Brit, James Corden, to have a little singalong in the The Late Late Show presenter's car on the way to work.

During the host's famous Carpool Karaoke segment – this week broadcasted from London and featuring Tom Cruise, David Beckham, Kings of Leon, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Hudson and Harry Styles – the 26-year-old crooner opened up about his past year, which involved several months of traveling and creating his new record-breaking album, Divide.

During his 'gap year' with his girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn, visiting the likes of Australia, Ghana and Japan, Sheeran admitted he has finally been able to ditch his mobile phone for good, and is now only contactable via email.

He explained: 'I'd wake up in the morning to about 50 messages and none of them would say 'hey, how are you?', it would be like, 'can I have this, can you lend me this, can you do this, can I get this?' and it was fine at the beginning, but it got really draining by the end of it.

'Getting rid of that, going traveling, getting perspective, making an album that I love, everything is great,' he added.

After showing Corden his party trick – fitting 55 Maltesers in his mouth – the singer opened up about a recent night out with none other than Justin Bieber.

'I was in Tokyo the other day and Bieber was there, and it was just him. He came, no security or anything, he came to this really filthy dive bar,' he joked.

'We ended up at this golf course. He put a golf ball inside his mouth and said 'go on hit it out' and I was pretty hammered.

'I had this driving wedge, and cracked him across the face. He was actually really cool about it,' he added.

Well, it didn't seem to affect the 23-year-old's performance at the One Love Manchester concert on Sunday night, thankfully.

Those crazy kids.
