Margaret Atwood's classic novel, The Handmaid's Tale, has just been made into TV show, bringing the dystopian tale into our collective consciousness once more.

And despite the book being written in 1985, many have hailed the adaptation as being incredibly timely due to Donald Trump's ascent to The White House.

The book and now TV show chart what happens when the female reproductive (and other) rights are stripped away in an ultra-Christian society.

Donald Trump's brags about sexually assaulting women, his beliefs that women who have abortions should be punished, his encouragement of violence at his rallies as well as his current war on institutions such as Planned Parenthood are eerily mirrored by the work of fiction.

Overlaying imagery and audio from the show and news clips from reality, this Funny Or Die video is terrifying and hilarious in equal parts.

We see the complicit nature of Melania in a new light as well as a humorous exchange regarding the size of Trumps…ahem.

Lines that Elizabeth Moss' character Offred says in the show like, 'When they blamed terrorists and suspended the Constitution, we didn't wake up then either,' take on new resonance and you can't decide whether to laugh or cry.

This isn't the first time Funny or Die have made a spookily on-point mash-up of fact and fiction - their 'Get Out (Of The White House)' video displays Ivanka Trump as the complicit girlfriend of her father's racism.

There's also 'The Day After Trump' clip about his choice to leave the Paris Agreement.

We can't imagine Trump is best pleased with these humiliating trailers that make him out to be the bad guy. Though, maybe he's always dreamed of being on the silver screen, even if he is cast as the villain.
