Ever since news broke last month that Taylor Swift has been reportedly dating London-born actor Joe Alwyn since last October, we've been keen to learn as much as we can about the 27-year-old's new beau.

So far, we know he lives in Crouch End, North London, has a psycho-therapist mother and documentary-maker father, is a Bristol University and Royal Central School of Speech & Drama graduate, was touted as the 'Next Big Thing' by the Hollywood Reporter, and made his first big break into Hollywood with Ang Lee's 2016 film Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk, opposite Kristen Stewart.

And it appears Alwyn – who earlier this month visited Swift's family in Nashville, US – is taking his high-profile status to the next level, with the Hollywood Reporter now reporting the 26-year-old is set to star opposite Australian actress Margot Robbie in the upcoming film, Mary Queen of Scots.

The publication writes the British actor will play Dudley, the counselor and lover of Queen Elizabeth I (Robbie) in a film which chronicles Mary Queen of Scots' (played by Irish actress Saoirse Ronan) life, from her childhood in France and betrothal to the French King's eldest son, Francis, to her attempted reconciliation with her cousin, the Queen.

The film will reportedly be based on John Guy's 2004 biography The True Life of Mary Stuart.

Alwyn's role in the adaptation signals his budding actor career, having just wrapped filming on Yorgos Lanthimos' period drama The Favourite, alongside Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz and Nicholas Hoult.

It seems the sky's the limit for this guy.
