It's hard to believe it was only last year when Drake declared his undying love for Rihanna during his speech at the VMAs, and even more unfathomable how Champagne Papi fans actually believed he was dating Jennifer Lopez earlier this year (come on people, they were teasing us ahead of releasing new music earlier this year, surely?).

However, The Views rapper has just set the internet alight again after he stepped out on Monday evening in New York City to host the 2017 NBA Awards with a new lady on his arm.

Walking the red carpet dressed in a classic black tuxedo, the Canadian crooner wrapped his arms around the waist of NBC Sports reporter Rosalyn 'Ros' Gold-Onwude, who stunned in a red midi-dress and nude-coloured heels.

According to For The Win, the 30-year-old New York basketball analyst is a close friend of Drake's, having struck up a friendship after he asked her out on a date during an interview last year.

Speaking of her friendship with the 30-year-old singer, Gold-Onwude admitted on Scoop B Radio: 'The first thing was the connection because we're both black and Jewish. You know, my father my father is Nigerian and my mom is white, you know from Russian, Eastern European background and Jewish. So, you know, we have that in common.'

In 2015, Drake shared a photograph of himself with Gold-Onwude to Instagram after his hometown team (the Toronto Raptors) lost to the Golden State Warriors, who she's been a sideline broadcaster for since the 2014-2015 season.

'When the post game makes you forget about what happened during the actual game,' the rapper captioned the post.

With a shared love of Basketball, perhaps Ros and Drake might soon able to make a slam dunk, romantically.
