It's hard to believe it's been 18 years since David and Victoria Beckham married in a castle outside of Dublin, with rose petals strewn on purple carpets, his-and-her gold thrones, matching bridal party outfits, and a wedding cake that would be later cut with a sword by the happy couple.
However, despite the former footballer recently admitting on BBC's Radio 4's Desert Island Discs that even he thought his nuptials were over the top ('I even had a top hat in purple. Unbelievable. What was I thinking?'), their marriage has stood the test of time, reaching another impressive milestone in the couple's relationship.
Today, David and Victoria respectively took to their Instagram accounts to thank their partner for 18 years of marriage, with the 42-year-old father-of-four posting a photograph of the couple's infamous matching leather ensembles.
He captioned the post: 'Wow we really did this. Happy Anniversary to an amazing wife , mummy and strong business woman. @victoriabeckham @brooklynbeckham @romeobeckham @cruzbeckham #Harpernotoninstagram Love you x'
Meanwhile, Victoria shared a snap from the pair's white wedding, including an adorable Brooklyn Beckham as a baby in the arms of his doting father. She captioned the post: 'I love you. Kisses x'
The pair's posts come hours after the fashion designer shared photos to her Instagram story of her enjoying a summer evening celebrating her anniversary with her hubby.
Sharing a picture of a fire pit in the couple's back garden, the former Spice Girl captioned the post '18 years married!! Almost!' and another snap of David Beckham with 'bunny ears' on top of head.
She also posted a cute picture of the back of the pair's daughter, Harper, as she made her way to school, sporting a perfectly tight plait – no doubt done by her multi-talented mother.
Happy anniversary, David and Victoria!
