Taylor Swift Breaks Tradition And Skips Annual 4th July Party, And We're Not Impressed

The singer appears to have shunned her star-studded 4th of July party for the first time in four years

Cast your mind back to this day last year.

No doubt you woke up, grabbed a coffee, and checked Instagram to see how the Hollywood elite had celebrated the 4th of July in the US, and almost dropped you phone in horror, nay joy, at the sight of Taylor Swift, Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevingne, Blake Lively and Ruby Rose enjoying what has to be one of the most red, blue and white-adorned, slip-and-slide-filled, patriotic American Independence Day parties of all time.

It's hard to believe it was this time last year that the 27 year-old Shake It Off singer invited her troop of A-list friends to her home in Rhode Island to celebrate the US' big day with star and stripes swimsuits, inflatable slides, and 'T.S' temporary tattoos for her then-boyfriend, actor Tom Hiddleston.

Then came images of her British beau wearing a 'I <3 T.S' tank top, and as they say, the rest is history (or, as others say, a high-profile romance, break-up, and endless gossip about the pair's romance).

And to say we've been counting down the days to seeing Swift host yet another shindig at her beach-side abode, is an understatement.

Seriously, we've been refreshing our Instagram pages – and her bevvy of friends' – to spot any indication of a party these past 24 hours.

And what have we found? Absolutely nothing.

Despite the fact a giant inflatable slide – similar to last year's – was spotted near her pool recently, it appeared none of Swift's squad was near the performer's home on 4th July.

Of course, the majority of her clan are currently in Paris for Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, but we're pretty sad there's aren't any red, white and blue swimsuits, beach towels and sparklers in sight.

The 22 singer's lack of party-throwing comes months after she announced her pre-Super Bowl concert will be her only show of 2017, and amid radio-silence on Instagram in recent weeks, other than the occasional post regarding her friends Haim and Lorde's latest music releases.

The singer's reluctance to celebrate the occasion might have something to do with her blossoming relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn, with whom she's thought to have sparked a romance back in October.

Well, if Swift's lack of hosting this year has taught us anything, it's not to buy an American flag-striped swimsuit and spend a year practicing our best slip-and-slide moves in the hope we might bag an invite to her next party.

Now who looks like a loser?
