Yesterday saw the announcement of the 69th Emmy Awards nominations.

Unsurprisingly, as The Academy Awards of the TV world, the celebs nominated were quite excited at the prospect of nabbing that winged statuette.

Big Little Lies got a big old shoutout, getting nominated 16 times in total, including 'Best Limited Series' on top of individual actors getting celebrated.

Reese Witherspoon got nominated for 'Best Actress in a Limited Series' and posted this girl-power heavy snap of herself and other cast members on the show on her Instagram, saying, 'Wow!! So thrilled about the 16 #Emmys nominations for #BigLittleLies! An incredible team of cast & crew worked so hard to make this happen! Thanks to all the fans that made it so successful!'

Up against her in the same category and from the same show is Nicole Kidman, though it looks like the pair's friendship is sure to weather the storm of this award show.

Laura Dern also got nominated for her part in the show as 'Best Supporting Actress' and she captioned her celebatory Instagram post, 'How gorgeous to work with your beloved tribe and have others connect to it...and then the icing on the cake - the work being celebrated. BLL...best time ever. We are so grateful. And congratulations to all my amazing partners.'

In the same position as Reese and Nicole, Laura has found herself up agains Shailene Woodley who seemed more than slightly revved up about her own and her co-stars nominations.

She exclaimed,

no words!!!!!! 16 emmys noms?!?! couldn't be more proud and moved by this group of women + the epic team that came together to make #biglittlelies happen!!!! how did i get so lucky to work with all of you?!?! congrats everyone. exciting morning!! @reesewitherspoon @nicolekidman@lauradern @zoeisabellakravitz @hbo@jeanmarc_vallee #bll #emmys ----ps. @lauradern ---- does this mean we gotta fight it out on the red carpet renata and jane style?! 😂😂😂. congrats all!!!!

Yes, yes you do Shailene.

Also excited about her own 'Best Actress' (in a comedy) nomination was Tracee Ellis Ross.

She literally jumped for joy when she found out that herself, her co-star and the show itself all got shoutouts from the Awards show.

The proud mama award already goes to Ross, alongside the bonkers award...

Her on-screen daughter and off-screen mate Yara Shahidi even sent a message of support to the show and Ross, with a video of them doing the whip. Because, obviously.

Queen of TV Elizabeth Moss posted a contemplative, funny and heart-wearming message to the whole team for the show's 'Best Drama' nomination, her 'Best Actress' (in a Drama) nomination and more.

She wrote:

Well I'm in a little bit of shock!! 13 nominations is absolutely insane. I woke up to a gif from my publicist Erica of a shirtless Anthony Rizzo from the Cubs and knew it was good news (because a shirtless Rizzo is always good news) but 13 is blowing my mind! I'm so intensely proud of my cast and crew who put their blood, sweat and tears (literally) into this show. This is not a solo sport and each and every one of them is responsible for helping make something we could be proud of. And a special shout out to my executive producing partners, showrunner Bruce Miller and EP Warren Littlefield. Our triangle of collaboration and trust has been a gift to me and I love you both. Nolite te bastardes Carborundorum bitches.

We for one really want to see that gif.

Co-star of Elizabeth Moss in The Handmaid's Tale' Samira Wiley also nabbed a nom as 'Best Supporting Actress' (in a Drama) for her work on the show.

Obviously the Orange Is The New Black star hasn't become blasé about these awards, since she posted this joyful snap of herself dancing, captioned, 'This is shaping up to be the best year ever! Thank you @televisionacad for my EMMY NOM!!!!!!!! Time for a #dancebreak! '

Fellow inmate Laverne Cox gushed about her own nomination as 'Best Guest Actress' (in a Drama) for her work in OINTB.

Not satisfied with one post, she went for it twice, specifically discussing the importance of Trans visibilty on television.

The youngest of the nominations went to Millie Bobbie Brown as 'Best Supporting Actress' in a Drama for her role on Stranger Things.

She captioned her celebratory Insta-post,

it's only 1:00 pm and A LOT has happened. Stranger things is a show to represent equality, fairness, and outcasts. Im grateful that I am a part of that. I'm extremely excited that the show has been nominated 18 times! A huge congrats to all the other nominees! Chief hopper- you completely deserve this because you are a phenomenal actor and to watch you work is inspiring and educating! To all of the directors, writers and producers, congrats!Wohooooo! Let's win this thing

Finally, not to be out-cuted by a 13 year-old, Riz Ahmed posted a video of himself as a kid.

He captioned the video,

Whaaaat!!? Can't believe I just got nominated for...two Emmy's!!? For The Night Of & Girls!!??! As a Brit, I feel like I have to undercut this with some embarrassment - a previously unseen acting performance, aged 6 doing an impression of Prince Charles at a cousin's birthday...tbh I think my best work ever 😂🤣 THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! 🙏🏽👊🏽Thanks to Steve Zaillian & #TheNightOf team & all the people who shared their real prison stories with me to help create Nasir Khan, thank you @lenadunham & @girlshbo team and all surfers everywhere for not pulling me up on my surf technique as Paul-Louis. Feel honoured...

Well done, guys. Now we're waiting for a teary and political awards show.
