While the world might still be debating whether Beyoncé's baby boy is called Sir or Sir Carter (we're still baffled), after the 35-year-old singer posted a picture of her twins on Instagram on Friday, her mother Tina Knowles is shedding light on the meaning behind the twins' names.

On Saturday, Tina posted a picture of poetry by the 13th century Persian poet Rumi, with the proud grandma explaining in the caption that her second granddaughter's gender-neutral name isn't 'only beautiful but logical'.

'Love number three. Sometimes we are the reason we can't find love!! We have to work on ourselves first to be whole,' she added.

Having collaborated with British poet Warsan Shire – who was named London's first-ever Young Poet Laureate in 2014 – on her hit visual album Lemonade, it comes as no surprise Queen B felt inspired to call her newborn daughter after one of her favourite lyricists.

After all, the new mother has shown her love of literary artists on numerous occasions over the years, having famously sampled Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi's TED talk 'We Should All Be Feminists' in her 2013 song, 'Flawless'.

In fact, Shire wrote the poem captioned in Beyoncé's pregnancy announcement back in February – 'I have three hearts' – which was posted on the star's website along with an underwater photoshoot.

With regards to Jay-Z and Beyoncé's baby boy's name, Professor Richard Coates, a professor in linguistics from the University of the West of England has revealed the name is a sign of nobility and power.

'Sir is a word introduced as a title of honour by the Norman rulers in the 11th or 12th century. It originally just meant 'Lord'—not royal, just aristocratic or a sign of the King's favour,' he told HarpersBAZAAR.

Sir's name follows in the same vein of his fellow A-list offspring, such as Kim Kardashian-West and Kanye West's son Saint and Tyga and Blac Chyna's son King.

Here's hoping Serena Williams calls her baby Lady, Lord or Queen.
