Solange Knowles' own sister once sung,'Freedom, cut me loose…I break chains all by myself, won't let my freedom rot in hell'.

That's probably what Solange was singing to herself when she channeled Jack Nicholson in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and broke herself out of hospital last week.

If you've got a mental image of Solange running down a hallway IV drip intact we're totally with you (and how does she pull of that hospital gown, eh?)

On Friday Solange blew London's collective mind by performing at the annual Lovebox festival at Victoria Park.

Crammed into the Noisey tent the 31 year-old 'Cranes in the Sky' singer performed her genius butt off in the monochromatic ensemble that has become somewhat essential to the Solange experience.

Plenty of people put their two-pence in about the festival's stage choice for the performance artist, suggesting she might have been better suited to the main stage, where more people would be able to see her.

However, little did they know, at one point it didn't look like she was going to be able to turn up at all!

Whilst on stage Solange apologised to the crowd for not being able to give her all during her set, adding that she might faint.

Not providing specifics on what her illness was, she claimed she was a fugitive since she broke free from hospital, where she has been for the last three days.

Dazed reports Solange told the crowd,

I was in hospital this morning. I was in hospital for three days. After my show I had a serious episode and was told I shouldn't perform. And so I broke out of that bitch this morning because I knew this place was going to be filled with so much love.'

She added: 'Thank you for believing in me when I didn't believe in myself.'

She Tweeted after the show saying, 'lovebox u made me feel better than any doctor could have'.

Taking after her perfectionist sister, Solange's show was anything but half-hearted.

One fan wrote 'I've never experienced a performance where the music was so powerful you could feel it in the air, until your show last night. Incredible.'

To which Solange gave her thanks, 'wow. thank you for this. been striving for this. it means a lot.'

Obviously London showed her a hell of a time, hospital time or not.

Though, don't go burning out Solange, we need you back here next festival season giving us more A Seat At The Table magic.
