When he's not promoting Charlize Theron to be the next James Bond, or joking that his rippling abs are all down to special effects, actor Chris Hemsworth is spilling the beans on how his Marvel superhero character, Thor, smells.

And yes, we know how weird that sounds.

But the Aussie star also happens to be the new face of Hugo Boss Fragrance so we like to think the surf-mad actor knows a thing or two about odours.

In an interview with The Cut, the father-of-two got down to basics when it comes to smells, explaining his first scent memory is the Australia bushland ('the eucalyptus is so iconically burnt in my brain') and revealed he doesn't wear cologne on set ('you want to be more of a blank canvas').

However, when it comes to his Marvel charcter Thor, the 33-year-old is pretty sure he smells 'amazing'.

The actor was asked how the son of Odin, king of the Norse gods, would smell if he wasn't a fictional character, and Hemsworth revealed he'd carry around the hint of 'metal from the hammer' in his day-to-day smell.

'Maybe a bit metallic, coppery, or the scent of electricity,' he added.

Surprisingly, despite Thor weighing a whopping 640 pounds and carrying a large hammer every day while fighting, Hemsworth doesn't think real-life Thor would struggle too much when it came to bad body odour.

'[Thor] doesn't sweat. He's a god. [Laughs.] He smells like a god. He probably smells amazing,' he added.

Other than that, the Melbourne-native admits to stealing a lot of moisturiser from his wife, and that having kids is a perfect reminder of ageing.

'When you have kids, the reality of it hits you. This is life and it's moving forward. The clock is ticking and I don't mean that in a morbid way. It's just like, Holy sh*t, got to make the most of it,' he added.
