The hot summer weather. Love Island. Wimbledon.

There are many things we're mourning as the summer months draw to an end, but nothing quite compares to the void following the departure of Michelle and Barack Obama from the White House earlier this year.

In the months since FLOTUS and POTUS left Washington D.C, the pair have been spotted paddle boarding their way through the South Pacific, addressing the double standards of fashion in politics, calling out Donald Trump's plans to roll back school lunch standards without even saying his name, and presenting Chance the Rapper (who bizarrely Michelle has know since 'he was a wee little baby rapper') with the BET Humanitarian award earlier this year.

However, it was for lawyer's most recent actions on Twitter that had the world swooning for the Obama family, yet again.

Over the weekend, Michelle took to Twitter to pay tribute to her mother, Marian Lois Robinson, on her birthday.

'Happy Birthday Mom!' Obama wrote on social media, captioned beneath an adorable photo of her as a young girl with her mother. 'Your unconditional love has made me who I am today. You are my rock. My ❤️. I'll always be your Miche. I love you.'

Minutes later, the mother-of-two's fans took to Twitter to honour Michelle's mother and thank her for gifting the world with 'the First Lady of a lifetime', as one commenter wrote.

Others took the opportunity to post an array of memes noting their sadness at the loss of Michelle Obama from US politics.

Michelle and Barack might have left the White House, but they clearly haven't left the hearts of supporters from around the world.
