Despite apologising to his wife Blake Lively with toasted cookies and milk last year, after publicly confirming the gender of his and Lively's second daughter publicly, it sounds like gaining brownies points in the kitchen isn't a regular occurrence for Ryan Reynolds.

In a recent interview for Men's Health, the 40-year-old star admitted his culinary skills leave much to be desired, contrary to Lively, who was known for her expert baking skills on the set of the Green Lantern, where the pair fell in love.

'I am not innovative in the kitchen,' he said. 'If I cook, you'll have a structure fire. The firemen will kick down our door, take my wife [Blake Lively] away and give her a better life.'

So he keeps Lively out of the kitchen if he ever goes anywhere near it, for her own safety!

The Golden Globe nominee, who is currently filming the sequel to his box office success, Deadpool, also opened up on his favourite cheat day meal.

'Is it really unhealthy if it makes you so happy? Patsy's Pizza ... There's a Patsy's Pizza up in Harlem that's pretty much the best pizza ... on the whole planet,' he revealed.

The Proposal actor also discussed his love of tweeting about his and Lively's daughters, two-year-old James and 10-month-old Ines.

'That's what Twitter's for. 140 characters? That's for jokes,' he said. 'I take fatherhood seriously. I just don't take the perception of it seriously.'

His comments echo those of his 29-year-old wife who recently told Glamour magazine Reynolds likes to make up 'scenarios' for comic effect.

'He may as well work for the National Enquirer,' she joked. 'When he says "my daughter", he's never ever talking about her. Everything is a completely made-up scenario, having a tendency to make up 'scenarios' for comic value.

'He may as well work for the National Enquirer,' she joked. 'When he says "my daughter", he's never ever talking about her. Everything is a completely made-up scenario, having a tendency to make up 'scenarios' for comic value.

'He'll run them by me sometimes just to make me laugh. But, oh, I'm so in love with him when he writes that stuff. I mean, I'm in love with him most of the time, but especially with that,' she added.

However, when it comes to getting laughs, Reynolds admits nothing quite compares to the best prank he's ever pulled.

'A friend of mine left town for a week. When he was gone, I painted his entire office puce,' the actor admitted to Men's Health. 'What is puce, you might ask? Well, he describes it as "a strange colour, because it's kind of like this muddy, ugly sort of red.

'But we didn't just paint his office that colour—we painted everything in his entire office that colour,' added Reynolds. They even painted 'the inside of his desk, every pencil, every pen—everything'.

Ryan Reynolds – a man you certainly don't want cooking for you or playing dares with, but certainly wouldn't mind marrying.
