Other than losing a passport, getting lost in the middle of the Australian Outback and missing a flight, a traveler's worst nightmare has got to be coming down with a bug while on holiday.

Anyone who has ever suffered from a 'dodgy tummy' while staying in a hostel with strangers or during a first-time weekend breakaway with a new partner will know that there are no boundaries left after spending a night on the loo for all to hear.

So, that explains why the Royal Family are on a strict diet when it comes to traveling abroad and, despite having the world's cuisines on offer, they are forbidden from eating one dish in particular.

According to OK! Magazine, the British Royals are reportedly never to be served shellfish during trips away, in order to avoid food poisoning.

With a reported 2,000 engagements each year according to the royal website, you can't exactly blame them for steering clear of the fishy dish, can you?

The sun also reports the monarchy are also instructed to avoid meat cooked rare and tap water while abroad, while garlic is a strict 'no no'.

Chef Carolyn Robb, who worked as a full-time cook in Kensington Palace rustling up dishes for the likes of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, told OK! Magazine: '..the reason for that was that they obviously did a lot of public engagements and were in close proximity to people and never wanted to have garlic.'

However, while the Queen is widely thought to observe this strict eating regime, it's reported some of the younger generations have been known to ignore the rules once in a while.

Pass us the lobster.
