Just one week after Chris Pratt and his wife Anna Faris announced they were legally separating after eight years of marriage, the Passengers actor took to the stage at last night's 2017 Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles to accept the Choice Sci-Fi Movie Actor Award.

While he decided not to take to the red carpet for the event, the Jurassic World star later appeared on stage to receive his iconic surfboard, presented to him by young stars Millie Bobby Brown, Maddie Ziegler and Grace VanderWaal.

'Wow. Thank you! I love you, too. Thank you!,' he told his fans. 'What an honor and a privilege to be here at the Teen Choice Awards. Thank you, Millie, Maddie, Grace. Give it up for the gals.'

The father-of-one joked:

When I came to Los Angeles, I came from Hawaii and I had all of this blonde hair and I was tan and I met an agent because I really wanted to be an actor and get an agent and he said, 'Wow. Bro you must surf?' And I said 'Yeah' and that was the first of many lies I told to get where I am today. Thank you.

'I would not be here with the ease and grace I have in my heart without my lord and savior, Jesus Christ,' he added, before making a shout-out to his Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director James Gunn.

Pratt's appearance at the awards show comes a week after he took to Facebook to announce his and Faris' devastating news.

'We tried hard for a long time, and we're really disappointed. Our son has two parents who love him very much and for his sake we want to keep this situation as private as possible moving forward. We still have love for each other, will always cherish our time together and continue to have the deepest respect for one another,' he wrote.

Following the announcement, social media soon went on the hunt for blood, looking for someone to blame for the A-listers' split – most notably Pratt's Passengers co-star Jennifer Lawrence.

Our thoughts go out to the Pratt-Faris family during this difficult time.
