Solange is one of those artists who brings the world 'authentic' to mind.

From her phone-free shows at the Guggenheim, her all-white wedding or her epic self-penned album A Seat At The Table, Solange doesn't do things by half, and when she goes for it, it's all kinds of classy.

So next up on the 31 year-old's to do list (since she's already ticked off 'coolest woman in the world') is saving a locally heralded L.A. soul food joint called My Two Cents.

My Two Cents is a health-conscious eatery that has chef Alisa Reynolds to thank for it's success.

Reynolds has since spoken out about the financial worries she's been under on her GoFundMe page, explaining:

For the past two years, I have suffered in silence because of a legal battle. Honestly, I am facing the biggest obstacle of my professional life. If you have ever watched me cook, you know that I am most careful to take my time to bring out tremendous flavour in the food I prepare. My challenge is from the individuals that originally backed my expertise.

It appears that the backers of her culinary project are suing the spirited cook, though the specifics are unclear:

The work that I do and the level of proficiency that I employ, took time to perfect. Each day, I spend countless hours honing my culinary skills so that only the best food is eaten by the people I love. Unfortunately, some of my early backers misunderstood the culinary process and decided to sue me.

After all this time attempting to sort the litigious issues alone, Reynolds has finally asked for help, in the form of settlement cash:

As a self-confident and proud woman, I have no problem working hard to correct problems. I have spent all of my money and also repeatedly tried to resolve this matter peacefully. However, this fight will only end if I settle this lawsuit for $130,000.

Despite personal pledges from friends and supporters, she is still short of the money she needs.

The GoFundMe page alone has already raised $18,301 in just over two weeks.

However, the deadline for the cash needed is tomorrow.

This restaurant is much-loved, and it's popularity extends to the rich and famous, in particular Solange herself.

Along with rapper Earl Sweatshirt, the singer curated music at an event called 'Wind and Grind' with all proceeds going towards saving the restaurant.

It has yet been announced how much money the sold-out event made but with tickets selling for $35 a pop, we're keeping our fingers crossed.
